Hello Arrowheads !
I'm getting many messages (including PM's) of congratulations for this board and many wish that this board will be successful. I also noticed that just in the last 24 hours we had 42 members and 162 guests visiting the board. I thank you all for that ! These visitors numbers suggests that people are hungry for information and for a decent place where to find it. Buuuuuuuut....(because there is always a but isn't it ? ) out of a total >200 visitors only 3-4 of us actually posted something on the forum. That doesn't satisfy me and it shouldn't satisfy you either. It seems to me like almost everybody is expecting others to do the posting while they'll be happy to just do the reading. Well...things don't work that way...because if everybody is expecting others to post than we will end up...with yep...exactly 0 posts ! To paraphrase JFK don't expect others to contribute/post expect yourself to do it !
You see...this board is not mine..it is not yours...read the title...it is OURS and it is OUR job to take care of it if we want it to succeed. The more passive we are as investors the more it will cost us and hurt our investment in ARWR. Just look how 2 days ago David Tepper took a proactive approach and sent a letter to TERP's management and the stock went up 35% in one day. Being a pro-active investor helps ! Now, of course we are not multi-billionaires but that's not the point...the point is that we can be proactive investors at our level as well. Together we can be very strong in this internet age because what ultimately wins on wall street is not high frequency trading, is not the daily games with the share price....but knowledge ! Knowledge is power and if interpreted properly can lead to making money. Well, we have the power through this board to filter the BS and to spread knowledge and information related to ARWR so we can speed the process of making other investors aware of this little company's potential. Stop being passive and try to do more because you can do more ! If one determined investor was able to put this board together...now imagine what 200 of us can do ?
I know some of you might think that you don't have much to offer, or you're not a scientific person or know much about ARWR...so what ? You can still contribute in many ways. Here, just now I can think of like 10 ways people can contribute:
-If you're a leader and a knowledgeable ARWR poster (like holdencf, end2war, mudbug012 etc) then open new threads, answer other's people questions if you know the answer, make sure facts and truths related to ARWR are respected...encourage others to post and ask questions that will take our collective knowledge to a higher level (by forcing us to do more due diligence or re-thinking our thesis etc)...basically assume your leadership role.
-If you're new to ARWR or you think you don't know much related to ARWR's science you can then ask questions (like: What is RNAi ? What is 1 log ? What is DPC ? What's the difference between HbeAg+ and HbeAg- ? etc.) Don't even start the question with "this might sound stupid but..." because we've all been there and we also know that ARWR's science and multiple trial designs are not easy to understand. I won't allow anybody to insult other members in this forum. Any investor at any knowledge level and background is welcomed. Remember that asking a simple question might help other new and prospective investors clarify things...not to mention that sometimes a simple question could lead to a lot of productive discussions we all have something to learn from. You can also contribute by using the like button on posts that you liked, by just saying a simple "Hi all !" in the shoutbox, by posting a link to an article or adding a valuable post you read to ARWR resource library, or even posting something in the off-topic boards. There is a lot you can do more and you should do it...it doesn't take much effort when the effort is collective to have a big overall impact. By doing this we don't only spread knowledge or encourage productive discussions but we also built a sense of community...and that in itself it's a reward worth fighting for.
Others might think that all our efforts will be in vain but I'm asking you: Did hparchs posts (or others knowledgeable investors) made you buy shares or hold onto your position ? Did his and others' posts and contributions made you understand ARWR's science and its potential better ? Most of us will probably answer yes to these questions. Now also put yourself in the shoes of prospective investors: wouldn't you want them to have a place where they can find lots of ARWR related info in an organized manner? I bet most of us wanted that when we first heard of ARWR. Look at MNKD board as an example...MNKD has a board with over 2100 members and I think MNKD's potential is much smaller than ARWR's long term: mnkd.proboards.com . If they can do it then we can do it too...especially since many of us think ARWR might become the biggest pharma ever years from now.
The year 2016 is going to be a very important year for ARWR if not pivotal in terms of its future and I wouldn't be surprised to see days with over 50% gains when the science will start taking over....and when these days will come a lot of new investors and eyes will be on ARWR and what better way than keeping them interested/invested than giving them all the info they need with just one click towards this board. But first (wow another annoying "but" I know... ) we need to populate our ARWR board with useful and relevant info to help us and to help others. And hey...who do you think is going to have the biggest return on investment down the road ? You got that right ! Us...early investors !
A message for guests: Thank you for visiting the board but don't be shy in joining the board and have a pro-active attitude...it only takes 1 min to register and then you can post, vote, have access to members only areas etc. You have a decision to make that could influence your own investment: you want to remain a passive investor or you want to have your voice heard ?
Also, if you guys have questions related to the board's functionality (because it does have a lot of features and hidden gems everywhere) don't hesitate to PM me or post the question in the "Questions, Suggestions, Comments thread". You'll be surprised how much easier the navigation can become if you know some of the tricks this board has. Remember: unlike other boards that are hosted by third parties this one is in our control and we can design it any way we wish (limited only by proboards design and my knowledge of course) so if for example most of you think that the board would be more productive by being less "organized" with so much subcategories then we can have a poll and vote and change it if needed. However don't forget that with just 1 click (Recent threads) you suddenly see the board in a yahoo like board style.
In conclusion, I know this post was a long one but I felt it was needed if we want this board to be a success...ohh and thank you all for attending yesterday's chat session...we established a record of 34 users online and we also had a productive discussion...let's keep that going and we'll make this a regular event....chat sessions whenever ARWR has a CC or webcast.
United. Strong. Victorious !
